Career Mr. Arthur Ting is the Chairman of Central Trading & Development Corporation (CT&D) as well as its subsidiary, including HPPC. Mr. Arthur Ting first visited Vietnam in 1991 and has since returned over 250 times. CT&D Group is currently one of the largest foreign investors in Vietnam. CT&D entered the Vietnam market in 1989 and has invested over USD700 million in various infrastructure projects. Its major projects consist of a 300-hectare Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, rated the number one export processing zone in Asia by Euro Money’s Corporate Location; the new urban centre of Ho Chi Minh City - Phu My Hung Saigon South Urban Development Project, winner of the 1997 American Institute of Architect Honour Award for Urban Planning; and the 375-MW Hiep Phuoc Power Company Ltd., the first foreign-owned Build-Operate-Own power project in Vietnam. Mr. Ting also actively engages in charitable activities. He was instrumental in setting up The Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund. The fund has donated over 9,000 scholarships in Vietnam since 2006 and has set up a 1,200 student non-for-profit Vietnamese high school, slated to open enrollment in September 2008. In the “Walk with IT” project, the fund donated an IT computer classroom to each one of the 64 provinces in Vietnam in 2007. To date, over 120,000 students have benefited from this project. Mr. Ting received an award from the Prime Minister of Vietnam in September 2006 for his contribution towards the industrial development of Vietnam and another Certificate of Merit in December 2007 for his achievements in investing and planning on building Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, contributing to the development of society and economy of Ho Chi Minh City.
